Marsi Bionics · Pediatric exoskeletons · EX-018
The Marsi Bionics ATLAS 2030 pediatric gait exoskeleton supports a child from trunk to foot (a THKAFO layout), so the child does not need trunk control to use it. Eight active joints with variable stiffness drive the legs, and an auxiliary frame keeps the child safe while the therapist works alongside. A passive mode generates a customised gait pattern; an active mode responds to the child's own movement intention.
ATLAS 2030 is used in rehabilitation settings with children who have neurological or neuromuscular conditions such as cerebral palsy or spinal muscular atrophy, including children without trunk control. A clinician assesses suitability, sets the device to the child's measurements and runs the sessions.
This kind of device is prescribed and fitted by a clinician. An enquiry starts that conversation. It is not a purchase.

No. The exoskeleton supports the body from trunk to foot, and the maker states that trunk control is not required. An optional head support system is available.
The maker gives a set-up time of about 5 minutes. The dimensions are adjustable, so the same device can be reset as a child grows.
Two: a passive mode in which the device produces a gait pattern customised to the child, and an active mode that interprets the child's intention to move.

A few powered exoskeletons are cleared for use at home, mostly for spinal cord injury, on prescription and with a trained companion. Most others stay in clinics.
