Four kinds of leisure equipment share this page. Hiking chairs such as the Joëlette Adventure carry a seated person on a single wheel, with one helper in front and one behind, along narrow mountain trails. Beach chairs, including the Vipamat Hippocampe and the floating Mobi-chair, roll over sand on wide wheels and can enter the water. Sit-skis like the Tessier Tempo Dualski mount a moulded seat on one or two skis with a shock absorber, steered with short outrigger poles. Adaptive paddling covers seats, supports and grips that fit a kayak or canoe.

Three designs solve three problems: sand, steep paths and rough ground. Pick by terrain, by who supplies the muscle, and by what fits in your car.
It is a moulded seat fixed to a frame with suspension, mounted on one ski (mono-ski) or two (dual-ski or bi-ski). The skier steers by leaning and uses short outriggers for balance.
The passenger sits above one central wheel with suspension and a brake. A helper at the back balances and steers using handles, and another at the front pulls. Some versions have electric assistance.
