Ottobock · Microprocessor-controlled KAFO · OR-001
The Ottobock C-Brace microprocessor-controlled KAFO is a knee-ankle-foot orthosis whose sensors track leg position and walking speed and adjust a hydraulic knee unit continuously through stance and swing. That control allows walking on uneven ground, going down stairs and slopes step over step, walking backwards and sitting down under control. The thigh, calf and foot sections are made individually for each wearer, and settings such as a cycling mode are reached through the Cockpit app.
C-Brace suits people with paralysis or weakness of the leg from neurological conditions, such as incomplete spinal cord injury at L1-L5 with little or no spasticity, or post-polio syndrome. It is custom built, so assessment, fabrication and fitting are done with a clinician.
This kind of device is prescribed and fitted by a clinician. An enquiry starts that conversation. It is not a purchase.

A locked KAFO keeps the knee stiff while walking. C-Brace uses sensors and hydraulics to vary knee resistance through stance and swing, so the knee can bend under control.
Ottobock lists descending stairs and slopes step over step among its supported activities, along with uneven ground and walking backwards.
No. The thigh, calf and foot components are individually made for each wearer by an orthotist. We can quote once a clinician has assessed you.
