The Motion Composites APEX C is a rigid wheelchair with a frame made of T700 carbon fibre. A 16 x 16 in chair weighs 9.7 lb (4.08 kg) without rear wheels, and the lightest complete build comes to 17.2 lb. Unlike many carbon frames, its geometry stays adjustable: the centre of gravity moves through 6 in and the back angle from 80 to 101 degrees.
For active users who put low weight first, for example when lifting the frame across the body into a car many times a day, and who value the vibration damping of a carbon frame on rough pavements.

Rigid frames win on weight and push efficiency. Folding frames win on packing size. The gap is smaller than it used to be, so check real figures.
